Quarantine Love

You would think that being sealed off from the world

There would be only mere glimmers of beauty to see

Tiny rays of sunshine peeping through your windows

A fraction of a fresh breeze

A sunset silhouette upon empty streets

No one ever warned me that even in solitude

I could find you

A recurring late night thought I don’t want to get rid of

My cup of coffee in the morning

My favourite scene from the last movie screening

The universe works in silence

sending love letters and flying kisses

Without my permission

diving deep into the depths of hearts

still getting to know one another

Here we are

Caught in each others orbit

Circling one another

Counting down the minutes

Till we finally collide in a spectacular

and breath taking fashion

Most nights we hardly sleep

We exchange words like stardust

trying to unveil the person

that sleeps between the sheets

Lost in your iris

Wandering the curvature of your smile

Im trying to memorise every detail of your face

as if I’m seeing it for the last time

When this all dies down

When the chaos of the world begins to loosen its grip

We’ll be floating in space

Just two lost astronaughts drifting through the cosmos

I am completely, utterly, and undeniably a fool for you

the hour glass sand mocking us as we wait

Wait for an opportunity to hold

A chance to tell our story untold

wait for the possibility to be lost and found in our own time

For when the words I say no longer rhyme

waiting on the day the stars align above for this is our quarantine love
